USPS Announces Newest Postmaster General

The Postal Service Board of Governors has selected Louis DeJoy to replace Megan Brennan as Postmaster General , who announced her intent to step down last October. DeJoy is a business executive with 35+ years of experience, and has spent years dealing with USPS, as well as other public and private companies to provide support in logistics, management and transportation.

Importantly, Robert M. “Mike” Duncan, chair of the Board of Governors states “Louis DeJoy understands the critical public service role of the United States Postal Service, and the urgent need to strengthen it for future generations.” Additionally he said, “The board appreciated Louis’ depth of knowledge on the important issues facing the Postal Service and his desire to work with all of our stakeholders on preserving and protecting this essential institution.” DeJoy becomes the fifth Postmaster General to join the organization from the private sector since 1971. The Postal Service Board of Governors vetted more than 200 candidates for the position before appointing DeJoy, which is effective June 15.
